The Best Gift I Ever Earned
One afternoon in September, I was in my room finishing my story when my mom and stepdad came in. They told me that if I finished my rough draft today, they would have a surprise for me. I got so excited and asked them a thousand times what the surprise was, but they would not tell me. When they left my room, I started to write faster than ever.
Let me tell you why this is such a big deal.
About a year ago, I had to write a two-page story for a homeschool assignment, and I wrote more than I was assigned to but never completed the story. A few months later, my stepdad encouraged me to complete my story, so I did. Then, my mom gave me a deadline to finish the rough draft by the end of September.
Here it was, the last day of September, and I was writing so quickly that my hand hurt because I was squeezing the pen really hard when I wrote.
I finished my story! I went into the dining room and asked my mom to read it. She did and then suggested that I make the end more detailed. I was bummed and slowly walked back to my bedroom. After making the end of the story more detailed, I was so happy because I finally completed my book with nine chapters!
Now, it was surprise time.
We got in the car, and then about 30 minutes later, my parents told me we were going to the Guitar Center to get me an electric guitar. I got so excited I started to bounce up and down in the car. When we went in, we talked to the guy behind the counter, and he showed us the colors of the Squire 10G Electric Guitar. I chose a black and white guitar.
After we bought it and got it home, I started to take the box apart quickly but carefully. I was so excited when I saw it. My stepdad helped me put it together, and I could not stop smiling.
When it was all put together, he handed me my guitar, and I started playing it. When I was playing it, I was so happy to have an electric guitar and be with my family.
I love my guitar, but most of all, I love my family.
