What I enjoyed about The Railway Children.
I enjoyed The Railway Children. I love that the book has action in it.
I loved how much detail Edith Nesbit put into the story. She put a lot of detail in the following:
The railway-
I felt like I was the shadow in the book, following Bobbie, Peter, and Phyllis on their adventures and listening to their conversations.
Their house and garden-
The house had a lot of detail. I could see the people in the house, and I could see the kids in the garden.
The characters-
Bobbie, Peter, Phyllis, and Mother worked together to solve the problems and comfort each other during difficult times.
Dr. Forrest was always there when they had problems or needed help, such as when the rake fell on Peter’s foot.
Mr. and Mrs. Perks and their children always helped them when they needed it, and the children and their mother would help them if they ever needed it.
All of their adventures-
I enjoyed going on the epic adventures that they had and listening to them solve the problems that they would run into.
I loved how they always waved to the trains, and then the passengers started to wave back.
Another thing I enjoyed was how brave they were and how they solved problems. For example, they saved the train from the pile of trees around the bend. However, they couldn’t just wave to stop the train because the passengers would wave back and think nothing was wrong. So, they felt they needed something red to wave to the conductors to stop the train.
They had the brilliant idea of using their red flannel petticoats to warn the conductors to stop because danger was on the other side of the bend.
I enjoyed how they saved the hound in the red jersey, Jim.
I recommend the book, and I would love to reread it sometime.
