Some of the reasons I enjoy archery as much as I do is because it makes me feel empowered, and it makes my chest, trapezius, biceps, and triceps stronger, and I feel stronger altogether.
Up next, I will discuss the seven S’s and why they’re essential.
The first S is Safety.
Safety is important because if you, someone else, or something is not safe, you or they could get hurt, damaged, or destroyed.
Then we have Stance.
Stance is necessary because having a solid foundation in your lower and upper body will improve your shooting.
Next, you need to Set.
You set by finding your grip, making sure that it feels good and that you know it is the way you were taught, and then setting your hook on your bowstring.
Then you have Set Up.
All you do for setup is grab your arrow, nock it on your bowstring, and ensure that the end of your arrow closest to you is below the nocking point. You also need to make sure that the different colored fletching is pointed away from the bow.
Then we have Sight.
Sight is very important in archery because if you can’t see what you are shooting at, you might hit something you don’t intend to. That could be a person or animal, so look at what you plan to shoot at and take archery seriously.
Ok, I know what you’re thinking; when will she say shoot? Well, you’re in luck. The next S is Shoot.
So go ahead, aim, take a breath and shoot.
Lastly, there is the Survey.
After shooting, don’t lower your bow; keep it as it is. Then look to see where your arrow went and if and where you need to aim next time and see if right when you let go of the string you actendly torked the bow to the left or the right. If you are happy with where you shot and that is where you wanted your arrow to go (that doesn’t always happen on the first or even the tenth time), then congratulations—you’ve done a great job, and give yourself a pat on the back because you are even a better shooter then I was in the beginning. If there are areas for improvement, that’s okay, too. Because if this is your first time shooting any kind or type of bow, you did it!!! So, compliment yourself.
The last topic I will discuss is the five Ws: Who, What, Where, When, and Why.
Who- Who do I like to go shooting with?
I love shooting archery with my mom, stepdad, and sister. We always have fun together, whether shooting or anything else we do together as a family. I also enjoy shooting with my friends. We always have a blast, and it’s fun to spend time together.
What- What do I like to shoot with?
I enjoy shooting my recurve bow, and I am getting better at shooting it. The best part is that I get exercise with something that I love to do, and in the process, I am getting to be an even better archer than I was the last time I shot.
Where- Where do I like to shoot?
I enjoy shooting at indoor ranges and sometimes prefer to shoot outdoors. I enjoy shooting at 3D targets because it is like I am hunting, and I also get more practice with shooting at an animal. When I go hunting, I know that I have practiced where I shoot and that I am comfortable with shooting. I also like to shoot at paper targets when the 3D targets are unavailable, or I just want to shoot without putting in the effort to set up a 3D target.
When- When do I like to shoot?
I like to shoot in the afternoon and evening for about an hour to an hour and a half. I enjoy shooting outdoors in the spring and fall because it is warm and not too hot outside, and it is nice and cool in the fall. When I shoot indoors, I like to shoot in the winter, spring, summer, and fall.
Why- Why do I like to shoot?
I like shooting archery because it makes me happy, calm, excited, relaxed, and free. Most of all, it makes me proud of my skills and the progress I have made.
I hope you enjoyed How to Shoot Archery With Some Fun Facts About Me.
