Finding life's melody, one note at a time

What I Liked About My Literature Class

I really enjoyed this year of English. There are some things I especially loved. One of those is writing my first book report on one of my favorite books, called The Malloreon: Guardians of the West by David Eddings. Another skill I learned was how to write my first research paper. When I found out I’d be writing a research paper, I kind of freaked out. I had absolutely no idea what I was going to write about, and I thought there was no topic I’d want to write about. I didn’t believe I could write a 500-word paper. (I love flying airplanes, and I want to get my PPL [Private Pilot License], and then my CPL [Commercial Pilot License].) After thinking about it, I was able to find a topic I wanted to write about. That topic was flying airplanes and how to take off safely in a Cessna 172 Skyhawk. I started writing, and before I knew it, I had over 3,000 words! I edited the title of my paper, and I really like the new name I chose. Here it is: Starting Your Airplane Adventure: Beginner Pilots Taking Off Safely in a Cessna 172 Skyhawk. I am pleased with how it turned out, and I look forward to writing another research paper soon!

My absolute favorite book of the year was The Railway Children by E. Nesbit. I loved that the kids wanted to find their father and know why he had suddenly disappeared with some strange men. Some of my favorite books that I read last year were: Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, Black Beauty by Anna Sewell, Heidi by Johanna Spyri, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, and The Mysterious Key and What It Opened by Louisa May Alcott.

I loved this year, the books that I’ve read, and the things that I’ve learned. I am excited to move on to next year and to read more new books.
