A couple of years ago, in December, my family and I went on a road trip to Glenwood Springs for a short, relaxing vacation in the snow.
While we were there, we visited the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool while it was snowing. It was so much fun!! It was incredibly cold walking from the locker rooms to the pool, especially since we were wearing our swimsuits. It was something that I had never experienced before!! I would totally do it again! It was so much fun, and it felt so, so lovely to get into the warm pool! At night, while we were still at the pool, it was lit up, and snow was falling on our faces. It was so beautiful and relaxing. I still think that it was super cool that we were in an outdoor pool while it was snowing, just because we wanted to!!
After our vacation was over, we drove home through a super thick snowstorm. To give you an idea, it usually takes us about 4 hours to get to Glenwood Springs from our house. On our way back, though, it took about 8 hours. One of the reasons it took so long is that we were driving on mountain roads, where the snow was so thick that the road was packed with cars, and they were moving at a speed of about 2-5 mph for about 6 hours. Another reason it took us so long to get back is that we drove up the mountain to avoid the Eisenhower Tunnel, which was congested with diesel trucks. If we had gone through the Eisenhower Tunnel, we would have had to breathe in all the diesel fumes for a long time, which would have been very bad for our lungs.
Thankfully, when we finally returned to our house, no one was hurt, and we were all exhausted and relieved to be back, safe and warm in our home, in our comfortable beds, for a good night’s sleep.
