Chapter 21, Robin Hood Meets His True Love
The next day, after Robin Hood, Little John, Will Scarlet, and Allan-a-Dale left Sherwood Forest with the king, they woke up in Nottingham Town in Nottingham Castle. They all got dressed in the nicest colors that the king gave them.
At about 12:00 PM, Robin Hood was out in the woods taking a walk when he saw a gorgeous middle-aged woman who seemed to be his age. She was a little shorter than he was, and she was dressed in the prettiest violet-colored velvet dress Robin had ever seen. When he saw her, he almost fainted. Her hair was a beautiful golden-brown color, and she had chocolate-colored eyes.
Robin goes up to this beautiful woman (trying to stay cool and keep his emotions under control) and says, “Good afternoon, my lady. What are ye doing in this part of Nottingham?”
“I am just taking a walk to get away from the madness in the town. What is your name, sir, and may I ask what ye are doing in the woods as well?”
“My name is Robin Hood, my lady, and I am just taking my afternoon walk in the forest, because I used to live in the forest, and I miss it very much. Walking in the forest is the closest thing that I can get to home. If you don’t mind me asking, what is your name, my lady?”
“My name is Maid Marian. If you don’t mind me asking, why would you live in the forest, and where did you live in the forest?”
“Well, ma’am, I used to be an outlaw, and I lived in Sherwood Forest with all of my merry men. When I think about it, living in the forest the way I did was not bad at all. I kind of enjoyed it.” Maid Marian was at a loss for words when, suddenly, she said,
“What were your merry men’s names, and why did you leave them and your home?”
“Some of my merry men’s names were Little John, my second-in-command, and Will Scarlet, my cousin. Some of my other merry men’s names were Allan-a-Dale, Friar Tuck, Much the Miller’s Son, Arthur a Bland, David of Doncaster, Midge the Miller, and Will Stutely. I left the forest with some of my merry men to go with King Richard, because he offered us a full pardon and he invited us to join his royal services.”
“What merry men went with you?”
“Little John, Friar Tuck, Will Scarlet, Much the Miller’s Son, and Allan-a-Dale.” Maid Marian was about to ask Robin another question when all of a sudden, a man came running out of the bushes and tackled Robin to the ground and started punching him in the face. Maid Marian jumped out of the way and screamed. After about 30 seconds, she came to her senses and ran a little way back, turned, and ran as fast as she could toward the person who attacked Robin. When she was about 2 feet away from where Robin was lying with the man on top of him, punching him in the face, and trying to knock him out, Maid Marian jumped and flung herself on top of the attacker, rolling him off of Robin, with herself now in the attacker’s grasp. Robin jumped up as if nothing had happened and grabbed his bow and arrow, knocked the arrow onto the string, and pulled back the string. Then, he let go of the string and shot the arrow at the attacker’s shoulder. Robin saw the opportunity and grabbed Maid Marian, and got her out of the attacker’s grasp. After Maid Marian was away, Robin rolled the attacker over so he could see who had just attacked him. Robin could not believe what he saw; the attacker was the Sheriff of Nottingham! Robin took a deep breath and calmed himself down. Then he lifted the sheriff off the ground and walked him back to the town to tell the king what had happened, and to turn the sheriff in.
When they arrived at the castle, he walked into the throne room to find the king dead on his throne! Robin was so mad when he saw this that he threw the sheriff onto the floor, grabbed his bow, drew his arrow, and when the arrow was knocked and loaded, Robin put the tip to the sheriff’s neck. Then, in an annoyed and frustrated tone of voice, he asked the sheriff if he was the one who killed the king. With the evilest and craziest laugh that anyone could ever imagine, he said, YES! At that moment, Robin stepped back, and the sheriff raised his head, and right at that moment, Robin shot an arrow into the sheriff’s head.
After he did that, he went to Maid Marian to tell her the news. After he told her, he left to find his merry men and tell them the news, and that they were all going back to Sherwood Forest to rejoin the band they had left. In one hour, they all walked back to Sherwood Forest, and Maid Marian was with the group.
When they got there, Robin found his merry men all around the tree waiting for them. The next day, Robin and Maid Marian were married.
